July 28, 2017: Yasoda Simi Sukhu Plaintiff vs. St John’s Rehabilitation Hosp & Nursing Ctr Inc Defendant
Allegations: While at St. John’s Nursing Center, the staff and employees failed to develop an adequate care plan and properly monitor and supervise the care and treatment provided to the Resident in order to prevent him from suffering the development and deterioration of bed sores to prevent him from suffering the development and deterioration of infections and sepsis and to prevent him from suffering a bowel blockage. Due to these injuries, the Resident wrongfully died on November 24, 2016.

April 10, 2015: Preston Gary Stern Plaintiff vs. St Johns Rehabilitation Hosp & Nursing Ctr Inc Defendant
Allegations: The Resident was admitted to St. John’s Nursing Center on March 10, 2013 following a three week admission to Palms West Hospital for treatment of a MRSA hardwire infection following lumbar decompression surgery and fusion. While at the Facility, the Resident became unconscious and the staff failed to take appropriate resuscitative measures for managing an unconscious patient. Neither the rapid response team nor a “code blue” was called. The Resident was moved back to bed while awaiting the arrival of Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue. He was subsequently transported to the Florida Medical Center where imaging studies revealed he suffered a CVA. He remained at Florida Medical Center in an obtunded state until approximately May 15, 2013. Since that time, the Resident has had ongoing neurological deficits.

Allegations: The Resident was admitted to St. John’s Nursing Center from January 6, 2012 through February 8, 2012 while she recovered from heart bypass surgery. While under the direct care, treatment and supervision of the Facility, she became the victim of medical malpractice by the physicians, nurses and other non-physician personnel and staff which resulted in the loss of her left leg above the knee.

Allegations: The Resident was at St. John’s Nursing Center during April of 2011. On April 27, 2011, the Resident was being moved in her bed by the Facility’s personnel when she felt a pop in her hip and then pain. She complained about the pain to the personnel of the Facility who performed an x-ray. The personnel told her that the x-rays were negative. The Resident continued to complain of pain and was eventually taken to Memorial Regional Hospital on April 29, 2011 where new x-rays were take identifying a left femoral neck fracture. The Resident then underwent a left hip replacement (hemiarthroplasty) at Memorial Regional Hospital and subsequent physical therapy.
