As part of our mission to help Florida residents, we have established a safety rating system based on numerous factors, including whether prior lawsuits have been filed against Florida nursing homes. Our goal is to give transparency to those deciding which nursing home is the best for their family member. See scores for Palm Beach County, Broward County, or Miami-Dade County.
We are not paid by any nursing home nor have we been commissioned by any organization to come up with this safety rating system. This rating system is entirely the opinions and data of NextGen Injury Law.
HOW DOES NEXTGEN INJURY LAW DETERMINE SAFETY SCORES?
The NextGen Safety Score is derived through a weighted formula that analyzes nursing homes based on the following items of most importance to least importance:
- Prior Lawsuits filed against the Facility
- Ratings by other respected critics (e.g. US News & World Report; Caring.com)
- State of Florida Violations
- Medicare Ratings
- Medicaid Ratings
The scores are then curved or normalized to prevent the clumping of scores/ratings. Additionally, Nursing Home Safety Scores factor in the size and location of the facility so that comparable facilities are being analyzed.
Please note that Nursing Home Safety Scores are based on data and information obtained as of Summer 2017. NextGen Injury Law will continue to update scores every summer starting in 2018.
NextGen Injury Law is the only website that analyzes a nursing home’s safety rating based on prior lawsuits filed against them. The reason NextGen places such weight on prior lawsuits is that it can be a strong indicator of how often patients are being neglected at the facility and is evidence of potential wrongdoing occurring at the facility.
At NextGen Injury Law, we recognize that a lawsuit being filed does not necessarily mean that all allegations are true. However, Florida law prevents the filing of frivolous lawsuits against nursing homes as there are numerous laws that must be met before a lawsuit is filed. These laws are designed to eliminate frivolous claims.
Therefore, if a nursing home lawsuit has been filed in Florida, a lawyer has done a good faith investigation of the claims and has certified that there are reasonable grounds for bringing a lawsuit. Additionally, every filed lawsuit that is identified on our website has been thoroughly reviewed and screened by our lawyers to verify its authenticity.
