IN THE NEWS:

On September 23, 2017, news outlets reported that 11 Nursing Home Residents at Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills died following Hurricane Irma.  According to reports, the the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills was left without power following Hurricane Irma which caused temperatures to rise in the facility and may have had “air-conditioning issues.”  An investigation into the deaths of these residents is underway.

Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills and its owners have a history of litigation.  News outlets are reporting that this facility’s prior owner was convicted of Medicare Fraud. Additionally, the current owner has a history of being involved with lawsuits and other fraudulent schemes.  According to the Article: “The Department of Justice accused him of participating in a kickback scheme involving his company Larkin Community Hospital. He and four others settled the civil claims for $15 million in 2006.”
