Allegations: While at Palms Care Center, the staff and employees failed to develop an adequate care plan and properly monitor and supervise the care and treatment provided to the Resident in order to prevent her from suffering the development and deterioration of infections and sepsis and to prevent her from suffering the development and deterioration of bed sores.

Allegations: While at Palms Care Center on or about February 21, 2014, the Resident was allowed to be come dehydrated and suffered respiratory failure. She developed decubitus ulcers and existing ulcers progressed. These ulcers progressively worsened and caused significant injury to the Resident and/or her death on June 4, 2014.

September 4, 2015: Robert Taylor Plaintiff vs. Palms of Lauderdale Lakes LLC Defendant
Allegations: The Resident was at Palms Care Center from approximately February 11, 2015 to February 17, 2015. Prior to her stay at Palms Care Center, the Resident had fallen and broken her left hip and then contracted MRSA and E. Coli post an ORIF surgery. She spent about a month in the hospital where an infectious disease team was able to control these disease. Within days of her admission to the Facility, she began to display symptoms of an altered state and her temperature started to spike. She was rushed to Florida Medical Center on February 17, 2015 where she was quickly intubated. The records show she “did not get all her antibiotics” while at the Facility. On February 18, 2015, the Resident was intubated, on a ventilator and critically ill. At 10:10AM she coded and passed away. The Resident’s death was directly and proximately caused by the Facility’s failure to administer all prescribed medications while she was a patient there. Had the prescribed medications been appropriately administered, she would not have died.
